, the largest provider of IP Cores for the logical and transport layers of PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

(2) (Peripheral Component Interconnect) The most widely used I/O bus (peripheral bus).
, PCI-X (PCI eXtended) An enhanced PCI bus technology originally developed by IBM, HP and Compaq that is backward compatible with existing PCI cards. PCI and 32-bit PCI-X slots are physically the same, and PCI cards can plug into PCI-X slots. ([R]), and PCI Express([R])(1), today announced the inclusion of its Switch Controller on the PCI-SIG([R]) PCI Express Integrators List. A product can only claim PCI-SIG compliance if it passes a strict suite of compliance tests and demonstrates interoperability with other industry products.

The Programmable Switch IP, which includes an upstream and downstream instance of PLDA's XpressRich shared-silicon IP Controller connected with a glue logic, is a highly configurable solution suitable for connecting x1, x4, and x8 lane components.

"We're pleased with the addition of a tested and compliant Switch solution to our portfolio of PCI Express products," explains Arnaud Schleich, co-founder and vice president of Sales and Marketing at PLDA. "We have sold over two hundred PCI Express licenses, our PCI Express IP is silicon proven many times over, and we offer a growing line of PCI Express boards for both Altera and Xilinx FPGAs. Today's announcement proves the breadth of our product line and reaffirms our position as the leader in the PCI Express modular market."

The PCI-SIG is the special interest group that owns and manages PCI specifications as open industry standards. PLDA's silicon proven IP controllers for PCI Express have been listed on the PCI-SIG Integrators list practically since the introduction of the PCI Express protocol. Today, PLDA offers two families of PCI Express IP that support x1, x4, and x8 lanes for Root Port, Endpoint, Bridge, and Switch configurations. The XpressLite IP offers a simplified PCI-like interface ideal for customers transitioning from PCI to PCI Express or for time-critical projects. The XpressRich IP supports access to all required PCI Express Protocol features and many optional features.

About PLDA

PLDA designs and sells a wide range of ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) A type of gate array that is programmed in the field rather than in a semiconductor fab. Containing up to hundreds of thousands of gates, there are a variety of FPGA architectures on the market.  interfacing solutions for the PCI Express, PCI-X, PCI and derivative protocols. The company offers complete solutions, including IP cores, hardware, software, consulting services, and comprehensive technical support provided directly by the IP designers.

Founded in 1996 and profitable since its inception, PLDA is privately owned. The company maintains offices in California and France, and has a strong international Distributor's network. For additional information about PLD (Programmable Logic Device) Refers to a variety of logic chips that are programmable at the customer's site, the customer being the vendor of the finished chip, not the end user.  Applications, please visit www.plda.com.
