OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1996-- PLATINUM technology, inc., on the heels of a successful two-year program of acquisitions that established it as a top 20 player in the global software industry, today announced that industry veteran Michael Matthews will lead its corporate marketing efforts in the new post of executive vice president of worldwide marketing. Matthews -- with 18 years of industry experience -- will drive the integration and expansion of PLATINUM's marketing resources to create a cohesive worldwide marketing organization.

Previously at Sterling, Matthews was vice president, marketing, where he oversaw a complete product line repositioning and re-launch, introduced major new products, revitalized the company's product and corporate branding.

A veteran of the industry, Matthews also possesses significant experience in strategic international marketing. He began his career in Australia holding sales and marketing positions with Digital Equipment Corporation and NCR Corporation; and thereafter served as president of Systems Center Japan, Inc.
