PLATINUM technology completes systems management adapter for Oracle Applications; company unveils AutoSys job management adapter; inks Oracle Cooperative Applications Initiative agreement.

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1996--PLATINUM technology, inc. today announced that it has joined Oracle's Cooperative Applications Initiative (CAI) and simultaneously released its AutoSys/Adapter for Oracle Applications. As part of the agreement, PLATINUM will work with Oracle developers to integrate the AutoSys products with Oracle Applications. The AutoSys/Adapter will enable seamless integration between PLATINUM AutoSys and Oracle Financials, Oracle Government Financials, Oracle Manufacturing, and Oracle Human Resources applications. PLATINUM AutoSys is a sophisticated job scheduling and management system that centralizes and automates processing in distributed environments. PLATINUM AutoSys/Adapters

By linking multi-vendor applications and systems management tools with AutoSys/Adapters, operators can use AutoSys as a single point of control to initiate, manage, and monitor all jobs within an environment. AutoSys also provides integration with leading systems and network management frameworks, such as HP IT/Operations, to enable users to monitor all AutoSys jobs. This reliable, powerful tool provides more advanced features than most embedded schedulers, including automatic restart and recovery; a high availability -- dual server option for uninterrupted processing; and dynamic workload balancing for selecting the best machine for a given job and specified run time. Integrated with Oracle Applications, AutoSys can serve as the chief job scheduler. Users need not learn and use multiple schedulers embedded within the applications when AutoSys is used to execute, monitor, and manage the events within these applications.

For example, if a company is planning to run payroll reports overnight, but the database they need to use is fragmented, the customer can rely on AutoSys to coordinate tasks across applications. With AutoSys/Adapters, users do not have to wait to initiate each task within each tool. AutoSys will kick off a PLATINUM TSreorg job to reorganize the database tables, then once a success status is given, the system will initiate an Oracle Payroll report task. AutoSys/Adapters organize tasks across applications and tools, preventing them from interfering with one another.

PLATINUM customers such as Cisco Systems use Oracle Financials and Oracle Manufacturing to support manufacturing, financial, and order-entry processes.
