OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 1996--PLATINUM technology, inc., (NASDAQ:PLAT) today announced a major component in its program to aggressively support the Internet/World Wide Web as a fast-growing computing platform with its announcement that PLATINUM Paradigm Plus now provides generation of JAVA code.

Paradigm Plus is a powerful object-oriented analysis and design tool that supports Enterprise Component Modeling (ECM), reverse engineering, and code generation.

Paradigm Plus now generates JAVA class definitions with its attributes and member functions. This is then compiled in a JAVA environment. Additionally, Paradigm Plus designs which have been developed for deployment in other environments such as C++ can be re-deployed as JAVA applications simply by generating JAVA class definitions. JAVA has emerged as the de facto standard language for the development of World Wide Web applications.

Paradigm Plus Supports Distribution of Diagrams in HTML Format

Paradigm Plus also offers developers a unique way to gather feedback from users via the Web. Developers can take a Paradigm Plus component and publish it on a Web page. This is done by going into Paradigm Plus, opening the component the developer wants to distribute, and executing a `file export to HTML' command. This action produces an HTML file which is then placed on a Web page, providing a detailed description of the entire component (complete with hypertext links). All diagrams, descriptions, and other repository information is available immediately on the Web page with the click of a button.

This is a major advantage when a project is being worked on by several people in several different geographic locations. Any authorized developer in any location can view the "latest and greatest" component specifications, models and other design information from the Web--even if they do not have Paradigm Plus on their computer.

Paradigm Supports Internet/WWW across products
