PLANT MANAGER NAMED AT GM'S FAIRFAX ASSEMBLY PLANT

 WARREN, Mich., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of Troy A. Clarke as plant manager of General Motors Midsize Car Division's Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, Kan. -- home of the Pontiac Grand Prix -- is announced by Jack Evans, manufacturing manager for the division. The appointment is effective June 1, 1993.
 Clarke began his GM career in 1973 as a cooperative student-in- training at the Pontiac Division in Pontiac, Mich. He held various positions with Pontiac including associate engineer in 1978; methods engineer in 1979; senior engineer in 1980; senior manufacturing engineer in 1981; assistant superintendent - manufacturing engineering in 1982; and superintendent of production in 1983.
 Clarke became general superintendent of manufacturing engineering at the Pressed Metal Plant in Pontiac, Mich., in 1985 and was named general superintendent - production there a year later. In 1987 he was appointed production manager at the Grand Rapids, Mich., Metal Fabricating Plant and in 1990 was named director at the GM de Mexico Ramos Arizpe Complex.
 "Troy Clarke's engineering, fabricating and assembly experience will prove an asset as he leads the Fairfax team through the production challenges it faces in the future," said Evans.
 Clarke replaces James B. "Bud" Darnell, who will transfer to GM's Cadillac/Luxury Car Engineering and Manufacturing Division as plant manager of its Pontiac operations.
 Born May 10, 1955, in Pontiac, Clark received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich., in 1978 and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1982.
