PLANS TO FEED PEOPLE'S NEEDS FOR 'SURVIVOR'.Byline: Fred Shuster Staff Writer Although ``Survivor'' is over, it still goes on and on and on ... First of all, for all of you who didn't get enough of it or want to see what you missed or simply want to study winner Richard Hatch's moves so you can apply them to getting ahead at the office, the record-breaking summer series will be repeated by CBS as counter-programming to NBC's Olympic coverage in September. (On the other hand, the Olympics, which are in Sydney, can be used as a subtle reminder that ``Survivor II'' will take place in the Australian outback. ``Survivor II'' will premiere following the Super Bowl in January, and the record advertising prices that CBS is expected to charge already has the network execs salivating.) In the meantime, the perfect soundtrack for your own backyard Tribal Council arrives Tuesday with the release of the ``Survivor'' album. The eerie, exotic score from the show was penned by 1995 new-age Grammy winner Russ Landau and TV composer David Vanacore. It's the first in a planned series of ``Survivor'' albums. With titles like ``The Strong Will Survive,'' ``Survivor Yell'' ``Tally the Vote,'' slap on this 19-track disc, light up a tiki torch, roast a couple of rats, and vote one of your family members out of the house. Meanwhile, corporate trainer Hatch faces another challenge, this time as a presenter at MTV's 17th annual Video Music Awards on Sept. 7 at New York's Radio City Music Hall. He joins Chris Rock, Sting, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and others. (Who should we vote out of this crowd?) And for you literate minded, there's a ``Survivor'' book on the way. ``Survivor: The Ultimate Game'' co-written by the series' producer, Mark Burnett, hits bookstores Sept. 12. It recounts the story and offers advice to potential contestants on future ``Survivor'' shows. A few chapters are now available on the Internet at www.contentville.com. Booked for a good cause: Country radio KZLA-FM (93.9) is sponsoring a children's book drive at Sunday's Clint Black show at the Greek Theatre. Those attending are asked to bring a new kids' book for the Los Angeles Children's Hospital library. KZLA air staff and Black himself will be on hand to present a donation from the ``Clint Black Book Drive'' to representatives of the hospital outside the Greek at 6 p.m. Sunday. Over the past week at various KZLA events around town, listeners have been donating books. The hospital library gives away around 2,500 books a year in their ``Reach Out and Read'' therapeutic program. The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Ticket information: (213) 480-3232.
