PIPE BOMB IN MOBILE-HOME PARK FORCES EVACUATION.

 Wednesday night after a pipe bomb was found in a mobile-home park, sheriff's officials said.

Described as a four-inch plastic pipe, the bomb was detonated 2-1/2 hours later by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department This article is about the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department, not to be confused with the smaller Los Angeles County Police

``He was walking around the park doing a security check,'' said Bednar.

Carter moved the device to his trailer and notified authorities.

As deputies arrived at the trailer park, they evacuated residents and notified the Arson/Explosives Detail.

Yvonne Brooks, 59, who has lived at the park for six years, said she heard someone knocking on her doors but didn't realize what was going on. She ignored the knocking and went to sleep.

Later in the night, Brooks woke to let her dog out when she heard what she thought was a large firecracker.

``I heard something go off,'' said Brooks. ``It really scared me.''

Officials said they are investigating the bomb's origin.
