PIP Printing Becomes First National Franchisor to Implement Kodak Image Magic Photo Print System.


CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 1996--PIP Printing will soon be able to make high-quality souvenir digital prints in a range of sizes at conventions, fund-raisers and other business-related events, using the Kodak Image Magic Photo Print System, officials of both companies said today.

Under an agreement announced by the companies here at the TS(2) show, PIP will become the first national franchisor to implement the Kodak system. PIP has initially purchased 20 systems from Kodak and will be test licensing the system through 20 of its top PIP franchisees.

The Kodak Image Magic Photo Print System is a portable, digital capture-and-print system that lets service providers produce high-quality prints for their customers in minutes. The system captures images on a Kodak Professional Digital Camera and displays them on a touchscreen See touch screen.  monitor for previewing, making it easy for people to order the exact print they want. Customers can order system prints in multiple sizes and copies up to 8 x 10-inches, (such as two 4- x 5-inch prints) produced on a Kodak thermal Dye Printer See dye sublimation printer. . They can select from a variety of colorful borders that allow the souvenir prints to be customized for special events.

Peter Gaughn, president and chief executive officer of PIP Printing, said that his company's strategic alliance with Kodak links perhaps the most recognizable and respected names in both the imaging and quick printing industries. The system will be marketed under the name SpecialFx(TM) Digital Event Portraiture portraiture, the art of representing the physical or psychological likeness of a real or imaginary individual.
