PINNACLE SYSTEMS INC. ACQUIRES DVD TECHNOLOGY FROM MINERVA NETWORKS, INC.


Pinnacle Systems Pinnacle Systems, Inc. is a California-based American manufacturer of digital video hardware and software for the consumer and broadcast markets. It was founded in 1986. In 2002 Pinnacle purchased VOB Computersysteme GmbH (now pinnaclesys.de). , Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLE has acquired DVD authoring DVD authoring describes the process of creating a DVD video that can be played on a DVD player. Pinnacle Systems plans to integrate this DVD software technology with its family of industry leading content creation solutions to provide easy-to-use DVD authoring solutions compatible with emerging low-cost DVD-R (DVD-Recordable) A write-once (read only) DVD disc for both movies and data endorsed by the DVD Forum. DVD-Rs are often called "DVD Dash Rs" or "DVD Minus Rs" to distinguish them from the competing "Plus R" format (see DVD+R).  and DVD-R/W drives.

Bill Loesch, vice president of new business development at Pinnacle Systems said, "This acquisition will allow Pinnacle Systems to extend its strong position in the video content creation market by incorporating DVD authoring for consumers and professionals in these solutions. We believe that as a result of recent developments in low-cost DVD-R and DVD-R/W drives, this market is poised for significant growth," Loesch added.
