The Pink Lady winks and shoots me her best smile as she sums up 74 years of life in one delicious sentence.

``Honey, I've never cared what people thought of me, as long as I'm doing good and looking good.''

These days, Jackie Goldberg Jackie Goldberg (born June 16, 1937) is an American politician and teacher, and a member of the Democratic Party. She is a former member of the California State Assembly. , aka the Pink Lady, is doing and looking pretty darned darned

Kaiser Permanente Kaiser Permanente is an integrated managed care organization, based in Oakland, California, founded in 1945 by industrialist Henry J. Kaiser and physician Sidney R. In 2005, Goldberg was named Ms. Senior Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County, grabbing the judges' laughs with her take on Hamlet's famous speech, ``To be or not to be.''

``Baloney,'' the Pink Lady said. ``The question is: To age or not to age.''

When I caught up with her Friday morning, she was just arriving at UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles

``I'm playing Joan O'Hara today, a woman suing her brother,'' the Pink Lady said, reading over her script.

At noon, she was heading to Hollywood for an audition as a Joan Rivers Joan Rivers (born June 8, 1933) is an American comedian, actress, talk show host, businesswoman, and celebrity. She is known for her brash manner and loud, raspy voice with a heavy metropolitan New York accent.  lookalike for a new movie on Elvis.

Then it was on to the Jocelyn Senior Adult Center in Burbank to give a pep talk to a class of seniors before driving home in her pink car to her pink house on Dolorosa Street in Woodland Hills, where she's lived the past 40 years.

Then it's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia. The Pink Lady also represents a line of women's clothing.

And, yes, she does find time to sleep, Goldberg insists: from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. every day.

``To everyone else, she's the Pink Lady, but to us, all we've ever called her was Pink Grandma,'' said 21-year-old Andrew Penn Andrew Jonathan Penn (b. 27 July, 1974, Wanganui) is a New Zealand cricket player. ``She's incredibly unique, and we're all proud of what she's doing every day out in the community, lifting the spirits of seniors. She's the backbone of our family.''

 at the California Mart downtown.

``I always wore pink because I felt and looked good in it,'' Goldberg said. ``One day, some guy yells `Hey, Pink Lady' to me.

``The next day on our office window at the mart, Walter had painted, `Walter P. Goldberg and Associates, starring the Pink Lady.'

``It just took off from there. Nobody knew Jackie Goldberg anymore. I was the Pink Lady.''

Her whole persona became pink, from the clothes she wore to the home in which she and Walter lived. She was dead serious last year when she told the judges at the Ms. Senior L.A. County pageant that she thinks pink 24 hours a day.

``I feel the aura and energy of a color can help make people see life through rose-colored glasses, and that's what I want more seniors to do,'' the Pink Lady said.

It's not a marketing tool, anymore, she swears. It's real.

Sharon Fine and Gail Stillson were among the 18 seniors who spent a few hours last week at the Pink Lady's house, where she holds her Pierce College seminar.

Like a lot of people, they didn't know what to make of this Joan Rivers lookalike living in a pink paradise.

``I had no idea what to expect, but it didn't take long to see this woman is someone special,'' Fine said. ``I've never felt so much energy in one place.''

Stillson said she was told, ``Expect something different.'' And that's what she got.

``Everything she does is tasteful and full of fun. She knows you can't be up and happy all the time. But when you're down, you've got to get back up and moving again.

``She teaches, by example, that you can do anything you want to do as a senior, that there are no limits,'' Stillson said.

Even wear pink to the funeral of the man you loved.

``A couple of people at Walter's funeral asked me if I thought it was appropriate to be wearing a pink suit,'' Goldberg said.

``I laughed and told them Walter wouldn't recognize me if I wasn't wearing pink. I don't have a doubt in the world he's looking down at me right now saying, `Go, baby, go.'

``And I am, honey. I am.''
