PINK, 87, HOT-DOG STAND OWNER, OF HEART ATTACK.

Paul Pink, proprietor of Pinks - hot-dog stand to the stars - died of a heart attack. He was 87.

"He passed away at work Thursday, leap year leap year: see calendar. , at the desk where he's been for the last 57 years," his son, Richard Pink, said Saturday.

What began as a $50 hot-dog cart in 1939 that sold dogs for a dime, turned into a thriving business that packs out 100,000 pounds of wieners a week. That translates to about 1,500 dogs a day.

"That little pushcart that my mother wheeled a mile and half, plugged in to a little outlet in a hardware store until 1946 where they built the stand. It holds a lot of precious memories and began a lot of good ones," Richard Pink said.

"Everybody ate there, from those who ate there because it was affordable to a group of celebrities who, when they came to Hollywood, didn't have any money," Pink said. "The rumor is that Michael J. Fox called it his office."

Another rumor: that Bruce Willis Walter Bruce Willis (born March 19, 1955) is an American actor and singer. He came to fame in the late 1980s and has since retained a career as both a Hollywood leading man and a supporting actor, in particular for his role as John McClane in the Die Hard series.  proposed to Demi Moore Demi Kutcher (born Demetria Gene Guynes on November 11, 1962) is an American actress. But it's no rumor that Ike Turner Ike Turner (born Ike Wister Turner on November 5, 1931 in Clarksdale, Mississippi) is an African American musician, bandleader, talent scout and record producer, best known for his work with his former wife Tina Turner as one half of the Ike & Tina Turner duo.  chowed down on dogs with grilled onions and peppers on proprietor Pink's 86th birthday, the stand's 55th anniversary.

The location is La Brea and Melrose avenues, not far from Hollywood. The motif - pink, of course.
