``Because of their unique experiences and the many adventures they've shared over the years, the stories each can tell about the other are entertaining and downright hilarious,'' said Jim Young, the Air Force Flight Test Center historian at Edwards.

Hangar 1414 will contain exhibits chronicling Yeager's career, including a P-51D Mustang painted to replicate ``Glamorous Glennis,'' in which Yeager became a double ace during World War II, along with the NASA NASA: see National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Engle made 16 flights in X-15 rocket planes at Edwards in the 1960s, flying high enough to become one of eight pilots who qualified for astronaut wings by flying into space.

Engle joined NASA's astronaut training program in 1966 and commanded the Columbia on the second shuttle flight in 1981. Engle piloted the craft manually to a landing at Edwards, the first and only time a shuttle has been piloted by hand all the way from orbit to touchdown.

Engle and Yeager will open the air show with double sonic booms at 10 a.m. Oct. 21, flying in two F-15 Eagle fighter planes to break the sound barrier.
