PILLSBURY HIRES SLOCUMB AS VICE PRESIDENT OF CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
 MINNEAPOLIS, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Pillsbury, a subsidiary of Grand Metropolitan PLC, today announced that Robert C. Slocumb has joined the company as vice president of continuous improvement for the Baked Goods Division, effective immediately. He reports to H. Robert Hawthorne, president of the division.
 In this position, Slocumb, 47, is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan for continuous improvement within the organization.
 Slocumb has 19 years of experience in the areas of quality and product development. Most recently, he was vice president and general manager for Applied Extrusion Technologies, Inc. Prior to that, he was director of quality planning and technical services for Pillsbury. Slocumb also previously held various positions in new product development during his 13 years with Conwed Corporation.
 Slocumb received a bachelor's degree in 1973 from the University of Minnesota. He earned a master's degree in 1979 from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn.
