PILGRIM'S PRIDE EXPERIENCES FIRE DAMAGE IN ITS LUFKIN, TEXAS POULTRY PROCESSING FACILITY

 PITTSBURG, Texas, July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Pilgrim's Pride Corporation (NYSE: CHX) today reported that on Sunday, July 25, a fire damaged a portion of its Lufkin, Texas, poultry processing facility. There were no personal injuries of any nature as a result of the fire.
 Lonnie A. Pilgrim, CEO of Pilgrim's Pride, stated, "The Lufkin poultry production has already been shifted to several of Pilgrim's Pride's additional processing facilities. Customer deliveries will not be interrupted as a result of the company's flexibility. Facility repair and replacement has already begun and the Lufkin facility will be back in operation within a few weeks which will include putting back to work the active employees idled by the fire."
 Pilgrim's Pride produces poultry products sold under the "Pilgrim's Pride" label to supermarkets, wholesale clubs and food service customers. The company's primary domestic distribution is through retailers and restaurants in Central, Southwestern and Western United States and through the food service industry nationally.
