The program, entitled ``Spring in St. Petersburg,'' will include famous classical works by Russian composers Tchaikovsky, Musorgsky and Stravinsky, with Arulanantham performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1.

A Santa Cruz resident, Arulanantham is an Antelope Valley native and the son of valley physicians Drs. Karunyan and Inpam Arulanantham. ``My most significant models have been the great pianists of the past as I have heard them on recordings, people like Paderewski, Cortot, Rachmaninoff and others from the European tradition in classical music,'' said Arulanantham.

His love of classical music led him to seek a closer connection to the culture of Europe The culture of Europe might better be described as a series of overlapping cultures. He emphasizes that his rather serious purpose does not in any way detract from the enjoyment of the music.

``We are thrilled and made excited by things that we can sense to be true, and our pleasure comes from a sense of things done particularly well and with great passion. This is true in any arena of life, no less in music,'' said Arulanantham.
