Israel's musical adventure began when he was 8 years old and he started taking piano lessons. He quit at the age of 11. But while his formal training ended, Israel discovered that he could play by ear and began playing popular songs at parties.

He continued to enjoy playing by ear throughout the years. But after retiring from his law practice, he decided to again take lessons.

Israel started studying with Thousand Oaks teacher Dana Southwell, who focused his talent and encouraged him to play more advanced works by the great composers. After Southwell temporarily stopped teaching, Israel began studying with pianist and teacher Edward Francis.

``He is a serious student and practices for long hours,'' said Francis. ``He has a musical ear and an excellent memory of the great songs of the '30s and '40s.''

The piano recital will consist of a mixture of Chopin preludes and waltzes, a Beethoven rondo rondo (rŏn`dō, rŏndō`), instrumental musical form in which the opening section is repeated after each succeeding section containing contrasting thematic material.
