PHP Leader Enters U.S. Market; Zend Technologies Raises $8M Series C Funding, Establishes U.S. Headquarters.

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Zend Technologies, Inc., the PHP Company, today unveiled aggressive plans to expand its burgeoning business as a provider of products for developing, deploying and managing business-critical Web applications. The Company announced it has established itself as a U.S. business, raised $8 million in Series C funding, and rounded out its veteran management team. Zend plans to replicate the success it has achieved in Europe and Asia where the company already enjoys significant market presence.

Zend's Family of Products are used by 6,000 customers in more than 50 countries. Zend is uniquely positioned within the Web application platform space being founded in November 1999 by Zeev Suraski and Andi Gutmans the creators and ongoing innovators of PHP, and the developers of the open-sourced Zend Engine, the heart of PHP. Over 15 million Web sites are using PHP, making it the most popular Web application language today.

New Funding, Expanded Management Team

Today Azure Partners and Index Ventures joined Zend's existing investors, Platinum and Walden Israel to close the company's Series C $8 Million investment. This latest round of funding will be used for continued PHP innovation, product development and marketing and to expand Zend's sales and channel support.

In addition to Zend's newly established U.S. headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Company also announced that it has rounded out its executive management team with the addition of Pamela Roussos as vice president of marketing. Zend will leverage Roussos' strong experience leading teams of engineers and marketing professionals and growing successful businesses to expand its presence worldwide. Roussos has held executive level positions at Consera Software, Rational Software, Pure Software, and other leading technology companies.

Growing with Product Innovation and Customer Momentum

Zend is widely used today within Global 1000 organizations to develop, deploy and manage their enterprise-class Web applications. Brand name customers include Bausch & Lomb, Deutsche Bank, Disney, Lufthansa, Electronic Arts, Sprint and Boeing.
