Loreto Romero, 27, who also used false names including Rafael Plata and Rafael Torres, had been arrested Nov. 30 by Palmdale deputies in a burglary investigation and had been at the courthouse to be arraigned on an auto-theft charge.

 spokesman Deputy Anthony Moore said.

Romero was described as Latino, about 5 feet 9 and 170 pounds and wearing civilian clothes rather than jail coveralls, which deputies said might have helped him walk out unnoticed.

 and white shoes. Romero has a tattoo tattoo, the marking of the skin with punctures into which pigment is rubbed. The word originates from the Tahitian tattau [to mark]. The term is sometimes extended to scarification, which consists of skin incisions into which irritants may be rubbed to produce  of a group of women on the right side of his back, deputies said.

Romero walked out of the courthouse between 5 and 6 p.m. Monday and was missed about an hour later, deputies said.
