 PHILIP GARRISON APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT - MARKETING
 AT HIGHLAND SUPERSTORES
 PLYMOUTH, Mich., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Highland Superstores, Inc. has appointed Philip J. Garrison senior vice president - marketing. In this position, Garrison will direct all merchandising and advertising activities for the 49-store retail chain. The announcement was made today by Ira Mondry, Highland Superstores president and CEO.
 "Philip Garrison is highly respected in our industry as an astute and aggressive merchant. He brings to Highland a combination of extensive experience with prominent retailers and strong leadership skills," commented Mondry.
 Garrison's prior experience includes positions as senior vice president of merchandising for Silo, a 235-store worldwide retailer specializing in consumer electronics, and senior vice president of Electric Avenue, Montgomery Ward's consumer electronics and appliance division. Garrison has also acted as group vice president of merchandising for R.H. Macy & Co. where he began his retail career.
 Garrison is a graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., where he earned a bachelor of science in business administration.
 Highland Superstores, Inc., founded in 1933, is headquartered in Plymouth, and operates consumer electronics and appliance stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
