PHILADELPHIA MUMMERS PARADE BROADCAST TO BEGIN 11:30 A.M. ON NEW YEAR'S DAY; A THIRD PBS STATION JOINS WHYY/PHILADELPHIA IN CARRYING TELECAST
Television's first commercial-free broadcast of the Philadelphia Mummers Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. on New Year's Day, a half-hour earlier than previously announced.
The parade will be carried on public station WHYY-TV (Channel 12), Philadelphia, which is lending on-air talent and production support to the telecast underwritten by the Lenfest Group and Comcast Cable. WPSX/University Park announced late today that it would join WVIA (Channel 44), Scranton, and WTIF (Channel 33), in Harrisburg, in airing the telecast.
Additional support for the telecast comes from Greater Media Cable and Jones Intercable.
