PETERSON ELECTED TO LCI INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 DUBLIN, Ohio, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- LCI International, Inc., (NASDAQ: LCII) today announced the election of DuWayne J. Peterson to its board of directors, according to an announcement by LCI Chairman and Chief Executive Officer H. Brian Thompson. Peterson is president of DuWayne Peterson Associates, a Pasadena, Calif., consulting firm specializing in the effective management of information technology.
 Prior to establishing his firm in 1991, Peterson was responsible for a $1 billion-plus budget and a staff of 10,000 people as executive vice president, operations, Systems and Telecommunications at Merrill Lynch from 1986 to 1991. A member of the Executive Management Committee, Peterson led the modernization and streamlining of the firm's global operations, systems and telecommunications functions.
 Peterson, 60, also was executive vice president for Security Pacific Corporation and later became chairman and chief executive officer of the company after it changed its name to Security Pacific Automation Company (SPAC). He has also held senior management positions with RCA Corporation, Citibank and Ford Motor Company.
 He serves on a number of boards including NASDAQ and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He holds a bachelor of science degree from MIT and an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles.
 The appointment of Peterson increases the number of those serving on the LCI International board from six to seven. Other members of the board include: William H. Janeway, managing director, E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., New York; James T. Bartlett, managing partner, Primus Venture Partners, Cleveland; Stephen W. Fillo, president, Fillo & Co., Inc., New York; Douglas M. Karp, managing director, E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., New York; Thomas J. Wynne, president and chief operating officer, LCI International; and Thompson.
