PET-ADOPTION DRIVE GETS TAILS WAGGING; PUSH RESULTS IN 30 ANIMALS OUT OF 35 FINDING HOMES; FAMILIES SOUGHT FOR REST.Byline: Douglas Haberman Daily News Staff Writer Responding to an adopt-a-pet drive, animal lovers took home 30 of 35 cats, dogs and rabbits from the city's West Valley Animal Shelter "Dog Pound" redirects here. An animal shelter is a facility that houses homeless, lost or abandoned animals; primarily a large variety of dogs and cats. in just 2-1/2 days, officials said Friday. The Animal Services Department's public information director, Jackie David, praised the effort's success. ``We don't like putting them to sleep,'' David said. The East Valley shelter gets far more strays and owner turn-ins, so it cannot keep them alive for as long, David said.
