A new pellet concentrate is said to be an all-purpose slip additive for processing any PET product. PTM13320 from Techmer PM, Clinton, Tenn, is sanctioned for food-contact applications by European authorities, and FDA approval is expected soon. Developed specifically to reduce friction on PET surface, PTM13320 has been shown to yield benefits in many processes. For PET film and sheet producers, it is said to improve extrusion efficiency while also minimizing stickiness during thermoforming and form/fill/seal packaging. For injection molders, the lower coefficient of friction is said to allow quicker, cleaner mold release. The product has a PET carrier and processing temperature up to 550 F.
