PEROT SAYS RIVALS DODGING CORE ISSUES.

Byline: Todd J. Gillman The Dallas Morning News

Despite his exclusion from the presidential debate, Dallas businessman Ross Perot H. Ross Perot (born June 27, 1930) is an American businessman from Texas, who is best known for seeking the office of President of the United States in 1992 and 1996. Perot founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1962 and later sold the company to General Motors and founded Perot  took to the airwaves Sunday to accuse his opponents of offering ``glib talk'' while ducking such key issues as the national debt and campaign reform.

``We are on a financial precipice that we cannot afford to fall off of,'' Perot said on CNN CNN

after President Clinton and Republican Bob Dole met for their debate.

``They never went to the core problem. The core problem is that we have two parties. Both parties are bought and paid for by the groups that fund their campaigns,'' Perot said.

Perot lost a court fight last week to force his way into the two nationally televised presidential debates. He began the day Sunday on CBS' ``Face the Nation,'' bought time Sunday night Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music, was an NBC late-night television show which aired for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 as a showcase for jazz and eclectic musical artists.  on ABC ABC

``They've done everything they can to freeze us out,'' Perot said Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:

King generally repeated the questions posed by debate moderator Jim Lehrer and pushed Perot for elaboration. But without the thrust and parry of a debate, the interview had a far different flavor.

Although the CNN interview was billed as a chance for Perot to answer the same questions as the major-party candidates, he brushed aside some of the topics.

For instance, he waved off a question about U.S. policy toward Cuba as ``an insignificant issue'' given the time available, saying, ``Certainly we should not develop a relationship with Cuba.''

On improving public education, Perot gave a shortened version of his treatise on infants' brain development, and its implications for the need for early education.

``Did you hear anything like that in the debates tonight? No,'' he said, adding, ``You've got to get into this level of detail. You can't just have this glib talk you heard tonight.''

He said on CBS that his campaign had fallen far short of raising enough money to match the approximately $30 million in public funds he accepted this year.

``We haven't raised a lot of money, didn't expect to raise a lot of money,'' he said.

But he said he would stay in the race ``till the end.''
