You're tired of sitting there watching the Jell-O jiggle.

Yes, we know you've got a computerized breadmaker, indoor electronic putting green, 200-channel TV and Nintendo galore. Still, there's really no reason to stay home throughout the holiday season yet again.

This is the time to get out there, grit your teeth and soak up some culture. There's a holidaze of top attractions in the theaters, clubs, galleries and concert halls from now until the end of the year.

L.A. Opera presents ``Countess Maritza,'' Nov. 29 (matinee), Dec. 2, 5 and 7. Emmerich Kalman's operetta operetta (ŏpərĕt`ə), type of light opera with a frivolous, sentimental story, often employing parody and satire and containing both spoken dialogue and much light, pleasant music.  tells the tale of a wealthy countess (soprano Ashley Putnam) who keeps a secret in order to avoid marriage as suitors get in line. Philharmonic presents ``Andre Watts Plays Schubert,'' Dec. 1, with the great pianist in a Schubert-only recital that includes the ``Impromptu'' in C minor; Dorothy Chandler Pavilion The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is one of the halls in the Los Angeles Music Center (which is one of the three largest performing arts centers in the United States). Los Angeles Classical Ballet presents ``The Nutcracker,'' Tchaikovsky's beloved seasonal fairy tale, in 11 performances only, Dec. 12-24. John Hiatt and the Nashville Queens, Dec. 12. Nashville's most literate singer-songwriter presents an evening of oldies Oldies is a generic term commonly used to describe a radio format that usually concentrates on Top 40 music from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Dwight Yoakam, Dec. 21. The country star's annual benefit concert for the L.A. Mission was originally slated for a month earlier. It will also be Yoakam's first live show all year.
