Summer Band plans Sunday concert in park

The Eugene Symphonic Summer Band, conducted by Mancho Gonzalez, will present a free one-hour concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Washburne Park, 20th Avenue and Agate Street.

The repertoire will include patriotic, light classical and pop music. Participants are welcome to bring a picnic, blanket and chairs.

Eugene Concert Choir schedules auditions

The Eugene Concert Choir will be holding auditions for new members on Aug. 31 at Grace Lutheran Church, 710 E. 17th Ave.

The repertoire for the 2006-07 season will include ``Carmina Burana,'' ``Amahl and the Night Visitors'' and Giacomo Puccini's ``Messa di Gloria.'' The Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble will have an eclectic mix of Renaissance love songs, Bohemian songs including Queen's ``Bohemi- an Rhapsody'' and G.F. Handel's ``Dixit Dominus.''

Dance school will celebrate new location

A competition among dance instructors will be featured during Musical Feet's grand opening celebration of its new facility Aug. 30.

The dance school, in operation for 28 years, is expanding to a second location at 2101 Bailey Hill Road. The school, now at 420 W. 12th Ave., will operate both facilities, providing expanded class offerings in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, dance team, ballroom and salsa.

The celebration will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bailey Hill Road facility, where members of the Musical Feet faculty will compete in their own presentation of `So You Think You Can Dance.' The audience will decide the champion.

Other highlights of the evening will include jam sessions and dance demonstrations, door prizes and the announcement of the winner of the essay contest for a $1,000 scholarship.

Lord Leebrick Theatre to hold auditions

The Lord Leebrick Theatre Company will hold general auditions for its 2006-07 season Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. at the theater, 540 Charnelton St.

Actors should come with one prepared one- to two-minute contemporary monologue. Roles will be available for both women and men ages 16 to 70. The auditions are by appointment only.
