Dance concert to raise money for Alpine center A student and teacher of Oriental dance, who has just returned to her hometown of Alpine after several years as a professional dancer in Asia and Africa, plans a performance Saturday. The concert by Salome, called ``Come to the Casbah,'' will be at 7 p.m. at the Alpine Community Center, 25114 Alpine Road, Monroe. While she was abroad, Salome danced in Tunisia, China, India, Japan and Nepal. Fifth Street Market plans concert series Fifth Street Public Market will celebrate the Oregon Bach Festival The Oregon Bach Festival is an annual celebration of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, held in Eugene, Oregon in late June and early July. It was co-founded by German conductor Helmuth Rilling and the former president of the American Choral Directors Association, Royce Saltzman, with Bach Party, a series of musical performances beginning with a show from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. Bach fans can sing alongside the the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus Wednesday evening in a new program called InChoir. The event takes place at 7 p.m. in the Studio at the Hult Center, Seventh Avenue and Willamette Street. Participants will sing with the festival chorus in a working rehearsal of Johannes Brahms' ``A German Requiem'' until 8:15 p.m. Community singers are invited to stay and observe until 10 p.m. as Helmuth Rilling Helmuth Rilling (b. May 29, 1933)[1] is a German conductor. He was born in Stuttgart into a musical family. He received his early training in Protestant seminaries in Württemberg. conducts his portion of the rehearsal.
