PEREGRINE RELEASES THE AUTOMATED INVENTORY MANAGER TO INTEGRATE MVS SNA NETWORKS WITH PNMS VIA NETVIEW

The Automated Inventory Manger (AIM) Populates The
PNMS Inventory Database To Reflect Current MVS SNA
 Networked Device Configuration Status
CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Peregrine Systems Inc. has added the Automated Inventory Manager (AIM) module to its network Automated Problem Applications (NAPA) software. NAPA/AIM provides a seamless interface between MVS environments running NetView to the Peregrine Network Management System (PNMS). PNMS uses real-time data supplied by NAPA/AIM to give network administrators complete and accurate inventory configuration data for all NetView managed SNA devices.
"Valid inventory information allows MIS staff to verify trends on which to forecast future network expenditures and perform proactive network management," says Jim Butler, chief executive officer and president of Peregrine Systems.
NAPA/AIM complements Peregrine's integrated enterprise network management strategy which incorporates data from disparate networks into one consolidated environment, PNMS. PNMS is Peregrine's flagship product consisting of network administrative applications that automate problem, change, inventory/configuration, and financial management of the enterprise.
NAPA/AIM and PNMS give support staff an accurate accounting of device status at any time and notify them instantly whenever there is a change in configuration. Critical device information is available as soon as a trouble ticket is opened. And since that includes availability status, problems are much easier to locate and resolve.
In addition to AIM, NAPA also includes three other modules that analyze job terminations, monitor network transactions and events and automatically open and close trouble tickets based on network alerts.
COVER is another integrated PNMS solution that processes information supplied to the PNMS database via NAPA/AIM and other Peregrine products, and graphically depicts the relationship between the logical and physical heterogeneous network configuration. Together, these products let support staff actually see where trouble spots are occurring throughout the enterprise.
 Pricing and Availability
NAPA/AIM is currently available for PNMS MVS installations running NetView. AIM is a component of the NAPA system. NAPA/AIM pricing is based on number of CPUs. License fees begin at $11,000 for up to 29 CPUs. Volume discounts are available.
