PERCEPTRONICS' CACE(R) SOFTWARE DEBUTS AT DESIGN AUTOMATION CONFERENCE
 WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Perceptronics Inc. (NASDAC: PERC) announced today that it is showcasing prototype versions of the first two products in its new line of CACE(R) software for Computer Aided Concurrent Engineering at the 29th Design Automation Conference (DAC), being held June 8-12 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, Calif. The products are CACE/DMS(R), a networked software system for managing the development of semiconductor and microelectronic products, and CACE/PM(R), a software package for modeling and analyzing the product development process.
 "Perceptronics' CACE/DMS software system represents the first realtime concurrent engineering solution designed specifically for managers and designers in collaborative development teams," said company president and chief operating officer Dr. Amos Freedy, who, together with Dr. Azad Madni, executive vice president for research and development and chief technical officer, is directing development of the CACE product line. "CACE will dramatically increase team productivity by improving the way concurrent engineering is planned and performed."

We expect CACE to be ready for Beta testing in approximately six months, and for initial product deliveries several months later."

CACE meets a real need for high-level planning and management of the product development process within a concurrent engineering framework. We believe it will give Perceptronics a distinct and significant share of the rapidly expanding, multibillion dollar market for electronic design automation software."
 Concurrent engineering is an important new approach to product development in which all critical engineering design factors -- such as electronic, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, reliability, etc. -- are handled simultaneously early in the design cycle to minimize redesign and assure first-pass success.
 CACE/DMS provides a high-level software environment for concurrent engineering. It first facilitates the creation of a viable concurrent engineering strategy and then helps optimize the performance of the concurrent engineering team -- both in managing the collaborative development process and in applying lower-level design automation tools. CACE/DMS is the first EDA software to support "process integration" -- the key to concurrent engineering. CACE software will reduce markedly the time to market for a broad variety of electronic products and will provide significant cost savings to the user.
 CACE software currently runs within Mentor Graphics' Falcon Framework on Sun workstations, which represents a large user group. The CACE/DMS application being demonstrated at DAC features a three-terminal network supporting members of a development team working on a multichip module, a new electronic product intended to "turbocharge" the workstation of the future. The application has been constructed in cooperation with the Hughes Electronics Division, Newport Beach, Calif.
 The Design Automation Conference is held annually in cooperation with several technical societies and numerous leading companies in the electronic design automation field, and is usually attended by over 10,000 people. The conference provides a high quality forum for presentation of papers, technical exchanges and demonstration of important new design automation systems and tools.
 Perceptronics is engaged in research and development and in the manufacture and marketing of computer-based simulation software and systems for commercial and military training and decision support.
