Worldwide Foods, the PepsiCo, Inc. (NYSE: PEP) division which includes Frito-Lay and PepsiCo Foods International (PFI), today announced a management change at PFI:
-- John S. Pingel., Jr., 51, who headed the international snack food division since 1983 and has been widely credited as the architect of PFI's growth, has resigned for medical reasons. Pingel has been diagnosed with a heart condition that requires him to curtail his activities.
-- Rogelio M. Rebolledo, 48, who has led PFI's highly-successful Mexican operation, Sabritas, has been named president and chief operating officer, reporting to Enrico. Each of PFI's five regional operations, headquartered in Amsterdam, London, Mexico City, Singapore and Toronto, will now report to Rebolledo. A replacement for Rebolledo in Mexico has not yet been named.
-- In addition to Rebolledo, PFI's corporate staff (finance, marketing, operations, personnel, public affairs and sales will also report to Enrico in his role as the division's chief executive officer.
In making the announcement, Enrico said: "Jack Pingel has led PFI to heights almost unimaginable when he joined a decade ago. He is one of PepsiCo's greatest heroes and will be missed greatly. Fortunately, Jack not only built a great business, he also built a great management team. Rogelio Rebolledo has been a major factor in PFI's success and is very familiar with all aspects of the business."
Rebolledo, a 15 year PepsiCo veteran, has been president of PFI's Mexico and Venezuela operations. Under his leadership since 1986, Sabritas has been a leading part of PFI's success.
