PEPSI, PRIDE & POP ART: DETROIT POSES PROUDLY FOR PEPSI'S SUMMERTIME BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN!
DETROIT, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- In an artful tribute to the City of Detroit, Pepsi-Cola has created a summer-long outdoor advertising campaign centered around a series of four billboard scenes that integrate huge, bold Pepsi images and the familiar "Gotta Have It" slogan into some of Detroit's most recognizable scenes -- the Detroit Institute of Arts, the downtown skyline, the Detroit People Mover in action, and the Ambassador Bridge over the Detroit River.
The much anticipated unveiling of the first creation showcasing the DIA will get underway Friday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m. at the Detroit Edison lot located at 1530 Trombley where Pepsi executives, DIA officials and representatives from Gannett Outdoor will gather for a close-up view of the billboard at I-94 East and Chene.
DIA Director Samuel Sachs II says, "The DIA, as Detroit's cultural centerpiece, is pleased to be involved in any effort to communicate to the public the real, positive spirit of the city."
Taking a break from tradition, Pepsi's light-hearted representation of the statue of David reclining with can in hand, is sure to give a whole meaning to "pop art." "We're optimistic that our fun portrayal of the DIA will bring increased traffic to its door," says Glen Fulton, market development manager for Pepsi-Detroit.
With the remaining boards slated for display at more than twenty transit and roadside locations with the week, these eye-catching visuals are likely to be a hot topic all over town this summer.
Pepsi-Detroit Marketing Manager Karl Sears, says "The billboard campaign is a great for Pepsi to let Detroiters know that we are proud to be apart of the city and celebrate the unique landmarks of Detroit."
