 PEP BOYS ANNOUNCES NO STORES DAMAGED BY HURRICANE ANDREW
 PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to numerous


inquiries by shareholders, security analysts and company employees, Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: PBY), the Philadelphia-based automotive aftermarket retail and service chain, which operates 337 stores in 18 states, today announced that it sustained no significant physical damage to its stores or stores under construction in Florida or Louisiana as a result of Hurricane Andrew.
 Although none of the company's 20 stores in Florida were closed as a result of the hurricane, all seven stores in New Orleans were boarded up and closed at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, and remained closed throughout Tuesday, Aug. 25. Two stores will reopen this morning and the remaining five stores, all of which lost their electric power, are expected to reopen later today or tomorrow as power is restored.
