PEOPLES GAS TAKES PART IN DAY OF CARING
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Peoples Natural Gas Company took part in today's United Way Day of Caring in Johnstown, Pa.
Peoples' employee volunteers gave their time to young children at the Johnstown Day Care Center and helped out with a workshop for the mentally retarded at the Association for Retarded Citizens. The event was held in conjunction with the United Way of Greater Johnstown headed by Executive Director Nikki Yorchack.
The Johnstown event was sparked by the success of the Allegheny County Day of Caring. This year, approximately 2,600 volunteers participated in the event throughout southwestern Pennsylvania. Approximately 65 of those volunteers were Peoples Gas employees from the company's four division locations and the Pittsburgh general office.
A similar event is planned in Altoona, Pa., next week. Volunteers will be helping out with Meals on Wheels through the Senior Services agency.
Peoples provides natural gas service to 333,000 customers throughout 16 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania.
