* Tom Wojcik, sales manager at Finch Turf Equipment, Westminster, Md., received the World Class Distributor of the Year award from Lastec, manufacturer of "The Articulator" brand of finish rotary mowers. Denny Lehman of Reed Equipment Company, Stockton, Calif., won the Lastec award for World Class Sales Person of the Year.

* Dave Tompkins was named general manager of the North American operation of Alliance Tire Company, headquartered in Roseland, N.J. He was most recently the owner of Road Runner Rubber and previously specialized in industrial, mining and military tires.

* Phil Wenzel has been promoted to vice president and general manager of Ferris Industries, Munnsville, N.Y. Wenzel has responsibility for all business operations, including sales and marketing, manufacturing, engineering, human resources and finance. Ferris builds zero-turn, three-wheel riding and walk-behind mowers for the commercial market.

* Dr. Siegfried Goll is the new CEO of ZF Friedriclishafen AG, succeeding Dr. Klaus Bleyer, who retired in April. ZF, headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany, is a global supplier of driveline technology and steering and suspension components. The ZF Group North American Operation is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

* Wendy MacDonald, chairman of BC Bearing Engineers Ltd, was presented the first Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bearing Specialist Association (BSA). She first worked in the industry during WWII and has headed the company since 1950. She was the first woman to be elected the BSA president.

Emmett Barker Named Agribusiness Leader

The president and chief staff executive of the Equipment Manufacturers Institute (EMI), Emmett Barker, has been named Agribusiness Leader of the Year by the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA). The award honors an outstanding leader in agribusiness, education, government service or other agribusiness-related areas. He is shown here with the award and Mrs. Barker.

Barker became chief staff executive of the Farm and Industrial Equipment Institute in 1973. Under his leadership, the organization was reorganized to reflect changes in the equipment industries and provide more services to a shrinking base of equipment manufacturers. In 1990, the major construction equipment manufacturers affiliated with the Institute and the name of the organization was changed to Equipment Manufacturers Institute.

In 1973, he was appointed by Secretary of Agriculture Earl Butz to be in the delegation to the Soviet Union for the purpose of creating more exchanges of agricultural information and technology. He has served as chairman of the board of trustees for a number of organizations and projects, including the Farm Foundation, Ag Electronics Association, National Association of Manufacturers Associations Council, Ag Day Foundation and Ag Relations Council. He has also been active in the "Food, Land and People" project, the USDA "Air Quality Research" task force and FFA support programs.
