VICA ELECTS BOARD: Steven W. Lew, vice president of Universal Studios, was recently elected chairman of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association. His two-year term will begin Thursday.

Lew has worked at Universal since 1975. As vice president, he is responsible for the entertainment complex's external affairs, including civic and governmental relations.

VICA members elected the following board members: Treasurer Peter J. Satuloff, Anderson, Satuloff, Machado & Mendelsohn; and secretary William R. Fariss, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Bonny L. Herman will continue to serve as VICA president, a paid position she has held for 12 years.

VICA members also elected the following vice chairs: Larry Beasley, Daily News publisher; Nathan Brogin, Brogin Companies of California; Ric Hill, 20th Century Insurance Co.; Cathy Maguire, The Gas Co.; Sandy Miller, BFI Inc.; Bob Scott, Bob Scott & Associates; Lucinda Starrett, Latham & Watkins; and Alan B. Ungar, Financial Counsel Inc.

MEGERY PROMOTED AT DISNEY TV: Laurie Burstein Megery was promoted recently to vice president of business affairs at Walt Disney Television, where she will continue to be responsible for business affairs for ``The Wonderful World of Disney.''

Megery joined Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. in 1995 as a director of business affairs.

SPINA JOINS 3D SYSTEMS: Frank J. Spina recently was appointed vice president and chief financial officer of Valencia-based 3D Systems Corp.

Spina previously held finance positions at Qualcomm Inc. and Motorola Inc.

FOUR EXECUTIVES APPOINTED AT TEKELEC: Calabasas-based Tekelec recently announced four executive appointments:

Cecil Boyd, vice president and general manager at the intelligent network division. Boyd joined Tekelec 20 months ago after spending 21 years in the telecommunications industry.

Dave Frankie, vice president of quality control. Frankie joined Tekelec a year ago with more than 16 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.

John Kennedy, vice president and general manager of the data network division. Kennedy joined Tekelec a year ago with 21 years of experience in product development and marketing.

Gordon Werner, vice president and general manager of the network switching division. Werner has more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, having joined Tekelec in September.

CURRAN JOINS SKOPOS: Ruth Curran recently joined Skopos Consulting as a principal consultant. She will assist clients of the Woodland Hills-based company with employee compensation and human resource management.

Curran has extensive experience with employee compensation and benefits. She also has taught business courses at California State University, Northridge.

JORGENSON APPOINTED V.P. AT PINKERTON'S: Larry G. Jorgenson recently was appointed vice president and senior managing director for the Southern California investigations offices of Pinkerton's Inc.

Jorgenson will be responsible for the Encino-based company's investigations offices in Los Angeles and Orange counties. He also will continue in his current role as vice president of entertainment and special event security.
