PEOPLE IN BUSINESS : REED APPOINTED AON VICE CHAIRMAN.


Aon Risk Services Inc. of Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  recently announced the appointment of Charles C. Reed to vice chairman. Reed is responsible for the development of new business with major corporations and large business firms throughout Southern California.

Formerly the executive vice president of Alexander & Alexander of California, Reed currently serves on the board of directors of Transamerica Investors Inc., the mutual fund arm of Transamerica Corp.

Foster appointed KNBC KNBC Kings Norton Bowling Club  executive producer

Jamie L. Foster has been promoted to executive producer of the KNBC-TV's Channel 4 News at 4, 5 and 6 p.m.

Foster joined KNBC in 1996 as a producer of the 5 p.m. news. He also produced the special news coverage of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Foster came to KNBC after a three-year stint with WSVN-TV in Miami.

Law firm announces new partners

The law firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol  recently announced numerous promotions, bringing the number of partners at the 250-attorney firm to 126.

Among the new partners:

With more than 20 years of health care experience, Sonja Hagel recently took the post of chief executive officer of the North Hollywood Medical Center The North Hollywood Medical Center, (), was a hospital in the city of North Hollywood, CA. The now decommissioned hospital, which is at 12699 Riverside Drive in the North Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, is the location . At NHMC NHMC National Hispanic Media Coalition , Hagel will oversee hospital operations, physician relations and recruitment and hospital programs and services.

Hagel was most recently CEO for South Bay Medical Center. Prior to that, she was senior associate administrator for a hospital in El Paso, Texas, and a regional nursing consultant in Southern California; and she has held several nursing administration positions in Downey and Los Alamitos.

BRC Imagination Arts recently promoted Scott Ault to the newly created position of vice president of creative development for the Burbank-based designer of themed attractions.

Ault will oversee all creative aspects during every stage of each BRC project, from original client proposal through final installation. Ault's promotion also places him on BRC's executive committee, which manages the company's strategic planning and business activties.

He was most recently a producer for the company, having worked on such projects as ``Ocean Base Atlantic'' at the New Jersey State Aquarium. He previously worked at Disney Imagineering and Landmark Entertainment, among others.

Howe appointed Vivitar president

Douglas E. Howe was recently appointed president of Newbury Park-based Vivitar Corp.

Howe joined Vivitar in 1997, serving as vice president and general manager for digital imaging. He previously worked at Olympus America as vice president of marketing for digital products and at Nikon Inc. as general manager of the electronic imaging.

Vivitar Corp. designs, develops, and markets photographic, optical, electronic and digital imaging products.

Schotte named CEO of Odyssey Pictures

Johan Schotte has been named chairman and CEO of Odyssey Pictures Corp., one of a number of management changes the Los Angeles-based international film distribution company recently announced.

Schotte was previously Odyssey's European film financing consultant. A Belgian investment banker Investment Banker

Pierre Koshakji was named Odyssey's president. He also serves as president of the company that owns the Geckos.

Odyssey's previous CEO, Stephen Greenwald, was named managing director of Odyssey. Its previous president, Ira Smith, remains a member of the company's board of directors.

Kline, Carpenter sign pact with Universal

Academy Award-nominated lead sound mixers Rick Kline and Chris Carpenter recently signed a long-term exclusive agreement with Universal Studios.

The pair has received 10 Oscar nominations for sound engineering, including work on ``Air Force One,'' ``Crimson Tide,'' ``A Few Good Men'' and ``Mississippi Burning.''

They will work at Universal Studios' newly renovated Alfred Hitchcock Theatre.

Walsh named Provender managing director

, a merchant-banking firm, recently announced the appointment of Raymond J. Walsh as managing director of the company's Los Angeles office.

Walsh will be responsible for identifying and analyzing potential equity investment opportunities in the specialty finance industry.

Walsh most recently served as senior vice president and chief credit officer at Chatsworth-based Great Western Bancorp. Walsh has also worked for Wells Fargo and California Federal Bank California Federal Bank, often abbreviated to "Cal Fed", was a savings and loan bank in California. It existed from 1926 until 2002, when its parent company Golden State Bancorp was acquired by Citigroup, resulting in the bank being merged into Citibank. .

Richards promoted to senior VP

J. Timothy Richards was recently promoted to senior vice president of business development for Warner Bros BROS Brothers

BROS Barnes and Richmond Operatic Society (London, UK) 
. International Theatres, a division of the Burbank-based entertainment company.

Richards will be responsible for overseeing business and property development as well as legal and business affairs, including strategic joint ventures, disposals and aquisitions in several international markets.

Prior to joining Warner Bros., Richards served as vice president and general counsel for Paramount and Universal's international cinema chain, United Cinemas International.

Universal names home video team

Universal Studios recently created an executive office for its home video division.

The three executives are:
