Rita Illig Liebelt recently was named president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Meyers has over 23 years of hospital management experience, including the last 10 years in Orange County where he managed three hospitals and a surgical center.

Andrew Given has been promoted to senior vice president of physical production for Universal Pictures.

Given, who has served as vice president of physical production since 1995, first joined the studio in 1990. He has worked on such films as ``The Little Rascals,'' ``The Nutty Professor,'' and ``Liar Liar - MIT Scheme , Liar.''

Universal Pictures is a division of Universal City-based Universal Studios, a unit of Seagram Company Ltd.

2 get promotions at Universal Pictures

As part of Universal Pictures' ongoing expansion efforts, Stacy Barger and Elizabeth Gaynes have been promoted to vice-president posts.

Barger will serve as vice president of international advertising and promotion. In her position, she will supervise all advertising campaigns for Universal's films overseas in conjunction with the marketing division of United International Pictures.

Gaynes will serve as vice president of international marketing. In her position, she will develop marketing strategies for Universal's films overseas in conjunction with UIP's marketing division.

Universal Pictures is a division of Universal City-based Universal Studios, a unit of Seagram Company Ltd.

Missie J. Gates was recently appointed chief financial officer for Woodland Hills-based NewMark Merrill Cos., where she will be responsible for all financial operations.

Gates has more than 10 years of experience in real-estate accounting and finance.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. has promoted Daniel J. Rosett to the newly created position of executive vice president of studio finance and operations for the company's three motion picture units - MGM Pictures, United Artists Pictures and Goldwyn Films.

In his position, Rosett will supervise various financial and administrative functions related to the company's worldwide theatrical film production, distribution and marketing activities.

Most recently senior vice president of financial operations for the corporation, Rosett joined Santa Monica-based MGM in 1994 as vice president and corporate controller.
