PEOPLE IN BUSINESS : KLEINMAN TO HEAD WELLS FARGO CENTER.

Lee H. Kleinman was recently named the manager of Wells Fargo Bank's new business center in North Hollywood. As manager, Kleinman will oversee a team of business tellers and other employees focused on business banking.

Kleinman was previously manager of the company's Woodland Hills business center. The Encino resident is a North Hollywood native.

Sagal named senior VP at Warner Bros.

David Sagal was recently promoted to senior vice president and general counsel of business and legal affairs at Burbank-based Warner Bros.

Sagal joined Warner Bros. in 1993 as assistant general counsel of theatrical issues. In 1995 he became special counsel of investments and acquisitions and in June was promoted to vice president and general counsel of business and legal affairs.

Brown to lead DreamWorks home video

DreamWorks SKG recently named Matt Brown to head its recently created worldwide home video division. Brown will oversee distribution of all of the Universal City-based studio's projects.

Brown spent seven years at Buena Vista Home Video, a division of The Walt Disney Co., including a stint as vice president of sales and distribution. Prior to working for DreamWorks, Brown was executive vice president of WestCoast Entertainment Co., a video specialty retail chain based in Pennsylvania.

Gardner promoted to Paramount VP

Dede Gardner was recently promoted to vice president of production for Paramount Pictures' motion picture division. As vice president, Gardner will work closely with the film and publishing communities to identify and develop properties for feature film production.

Gardner joined the Hollywood-based studio in 1996 as director of creative affairs. Before joining Paramount, she worked in the William Morris Agency's literacy department and at Innovative Artists, both based in New York.

Danaher-Dorr joins Polygram Television

PolyGram Television recently hired Karen Danaher-Dorr in the newly created position of senior vice president of television movies and miniseries.

Danaher-Dorr joins PolyGram's Los Angeles office from Citadel Entertainment L.P., where she served as senior vice president of motion pictures and miniseries. She also held the same post at New World Entertainment, and was an executive producer at Republic Pictures.

Danaher-Dorr was a founding member of the Hollywood Women's Political Committee.

MGM adds Hester as consultant

Former Orion Pictures Chief Operating Officer John Hester recently was hired as a consultant to Santa Monica-based Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., advising on all matters related to the company's 1997 acquisition of Orion.

Hester joined Orion in 1984 as counsel, and moved up through the company until his 1992 promotion to senior executive vice president and COO. Prior to working at Orion, Hester worked in the legal departments of Paramount Pictures and United Artists and also served as assistant state and district attorneys in the state of New York.

Murphy named to new post at Buena Vista

Steven Pleshette Murphy recently joined The Walt Disney Co. as senior vice president of Buena Vista Publishing. Murphy will be responsible for Hyperion, Disney Children's Book Group and the magazines Discover, Disney Adventures, Disney Magazine and FamilyFun, among other duties.

Murphy joins Burbank-based Disney after serving as president of EMI's Angel Records, a classical recordings label. He also worked for Simon & Schuster and Crown Publishers.

Franke named MCA's director of sales

Ed Franke was recently named national director of sales at Universal City-based MCA Records. As such, Franke will work with regional directors and salespeople of MCA and Universal Music, the division of Seagram Co. that includes MCA, Universal Records and Geffen Records, among others.

Franke previously was MCA's East Coast regional sales director, based in New York. Franke is a professional musician, and worked for SBK Records and Relativity Records before joining MCA.
