PENTON ACQUIRES TECH CONFERENCES, INC.; LAUNCHES SHOW FOR EDA MARKET.Penton Media (Cleveland, OH) has acquired Tech Conferences, Inc. (Monroe, CT), a producer of conferences for the computer programming and applications development market. No terms were given. In related news, Penton said it will launch the "EDA (1) (Electronic Design Automation) Using the computer to design, lay out, verify and simulate the performance of electronic circuits on a chip or printed circuit board. : Front-to-Back" conference and show for the electronic design automation market in September. TCI (Trustworthy Computing Initiative) An umbrella term from Microsoft for its efforts to improve security in Windows. TCI was announced in 2002 after viruses such as Code Red and Nimda had succeeded in attacking numerous Windows computers. was established in 1993 and produces 11 events covering a variety of programming languages. The events include: ASP+ Connections; XML XML in full Extensible Markup Language. Markup language developed to be a simplified and more structural version of SGML. It incorporates features of HTML (e.g., hypertext linking), but is designed to overcome some of HTML's limitations. Duke president Mark Smith said that "TCI provides us with a good launch pad to kick--start our event business. We have worked with TCI for several years and know them to be an excellent partner. In related news Penton will launch the "EDA Front-to-Back" trade show and conference in Santa Clara (CA) on Sept. 24-26. The new event will consist of three main parts: a series of conference sessions; a "showcase" featuring vendor test-drive booths; and, optional "meeting suites" for participating vendors. |
