PECO ENERGY HOSTS ALTERNATIVE-POWERED VEHICLE EXHIBIT AT PHILADELPHIA AUTO SHOW

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the exhibitors at the 1994 International Philadelphia Auto Show is not an automaker, nor a dealer of paraphernalia for car buffs.
For the first time, the Auto Show features an exhibit of alternative-powered vehicles displayed by PECO Energy Company (NYSE: PE).
PECO Energy, the region's electric and natural gas provider is a leader in the use of alternative powered vehicles and will be a primary provider of transportation fuels under the federal mandates for vehicles that use clean-burning, domestic energy resources.
PECO Energy's exhibit space was donated by the Automotive Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia, the sponsor of the show, to allow the company to showcase its one of its two new electric vehicles -- a specially designed electric-powered Dodge Caravan -- and a dedicated natural gas vehicle, a 1993 GMC Sierra pickup truck. Both are examples of new alternative powered vehicles now available directly from U.S. automakers.
PECO Energy, which has operated NGVs since the early 1980s, owns more than 85 vehicles fueled by natural gas in its fleet. The Philadelphia Auto Show at the Civic Center is the region's second largest attraction, drawing more than 70,000 visitors last year. The eight-day event opened last Sunday and runs through Jan. 16. The show features all of what's new on wheels in '94 from more than 30 domestic and imported automakers. Hours are 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; and 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
