PECO Announces Executive Appointments.

PECO's Denis O'Brien named Exelon Executive Vice President and PECO President and Chief Executive Officer

PHILADELPHIA -- Denis P. O'Brien, PECO president, has been named Exelon executive vice president and PECO president and chief executive officer. O'Brien oversees all PECO operations and overall performance associated with PECO service reliability, customer satisfaction, and regulatory and external affairs.

O'Brien was most recently PECO president and Exelon senior vice president. O'Brien serves on numerous civic and industry boards, including the Energy Association of Pennsylvania, American Gas Association, Pennsylvania Business Roundtable, Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Select Greater Philadelphia, The Franklin Institute, WHYY, Inc., and the Drexel University board of trustees. He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Rutgers University and earned a master's degree in business from Drexel University.

Additionally, O'Brien has announced the following appointments to his executive management team:

* Craig Adams has been named senior vice president and chief operating officer, PECO

* Phillip Barnett has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer, PECO

* Mary Ludford has been named vice president, customer operations, PECO

* Mark Alden has been named vice president, gas operations, PECO

Adams is responsible for directing the resources and activities related to the overall management of PECO electric and gas business. This includes full responsibility for meeting all financial, customer, operational and employee targets for the PECO electric and gas business that serves the City of Philadelphia and parts or all of five surrounding suburban counties.

Adams has held numerous positions with PECO and Exelon, including most recently senior vice president and chief supply officer for Exelon. Prior to this position, he served as vice president of Support Services for PECO and ComEd, responsible for contractor and project management, fleet services, environmental health and safety. During his career with the company, Adams has held a variety of positions related to supply, emergency preparedness and security, primarily with, then, PECO's nuclear division. He came to the company in 1989 from Public Service Electric & Gas in New Jersey. Adams holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics from State University of New York, in Albany.

Ludford is responsible for all customer operations, including the call center, meter reading and meter services, billing, payment processing, credit and collections, and low-income programs.

Prior to her new position, Ludford served as vice president, customer financial operations for Exelon Energy Delivery. Prior to this, Ludford was vice president of support services in the Exelon's Business Services Company, and before that she was director of finance for ComEd, PECO's sister utility in Chicago. Ludford has held numerous positions during her career with Exelon including, director of system billing for ComEd, management of the care center, financial support of the corporate unregulated entities, liaison to the Illinois Commerce Commission, coordinator of franchise and ordinance consideration, and various financial positions. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Western Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University.

Barnett is responsible for overseeing all financial matters related to PECO. He will also lead and coordinate PECO's planning, accounting, tax, treasury, investor relations and risk management activities.

Barnett was previously senior vice president of corporate financial planning for Exelon. Prior to that role, he was the vice president of finance for Exelon Generation. Barnett got his start as an auditor at Arthur Andersen and then went to Itel Corporation in various financial planning and reporting roles before moving to GE Capital. He was at GE Capital for approximately 11 years, where he rose to chief financial officer of three of GE Capital's operations. Barnett earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Marquette University in Milwaukee, a master's degree in management at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, and passed the certified public accountant's examination in 1985.

Alden is responsible for supply and transportation, gas plant operations, gas system control, engineering, distribution operations and maintenance.

Alden, previously vice president of engineering and services for PECO and ComEd, managed the company's material condition and investment planning, support services (including training, safety, environmental and fleet services), and governance and oversight. Prior to this position, Alden served as vice president of projects and support services. He also served as director of corporate supply planning for PECO, where he led the company's five supply officers in developing and managing a coordinated approach for dealing with $800 million of purchased commodities and services across multiple business units. Alden worked for nearly 14 years at PECO's Nuclear Group in a variety of roles, including manager of contract services, and manager of mechanical installations at the Limerick Generating Station. Alden holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Penn State University and an MBA from St. Joseph's University.
