PE Biosystems Appoints Deborah A. Smeltzer Vice President, Finance.

), a PE Corporation business, announced today that Deborah A. Smeltzer, 46, has been appointed vice president, finance, for PE Biosystems. Ms. Smeltzer assumed her new duties November 15.

In her new position, Ms. Smeltzer will play a key role in PE Biosystems' business development efforts and will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, structuring and negotiating business opportunities. She also will be responsible for setting the financial strategy and business planning process for PE Biosystems.

Ms. Smeltzer most recently served as chief financial officer and vice president of Genset SA, Paris, a global genomics company, where she was responsible for all phases of corporate finance activities, regulatory compliance, investor relations Investor relations
