PDI 2006.The 2006 ASMC Professional Development Institute (PDI) was held in San Diego on May 31 to June 2. Once again financial managers from all levels of all components and agencies in the Department of Defense converged to meet, network, and learn. This was an amazing event of quality professional development offered on a very large scale. About 100 workshops were offered. Each military component and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service had their own training day. Top management from the federal government, Department of Defense, and the military components gave updates and mingled with personnel attending the PDI. On Monday and Tuesday, before the conference formally opened, training for those working on their Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) designations was conducted by instructors from the Graduate School, USDA. CDFM testing was available throughout the event. And attendees of the workshops walked away with many continuing professional education (CPE) credits in the bank toward their next recertification. If you were unable to attend the PDI, don't despair. We recorded many of the workshop presentations (either in audio mode or in full-motion video), and we will place them on the ASMC Web site in our Virtual Library. You can view any or all of these presentations and receive CPE credits. We're interested in knowing how ASMC members benefited by investing in their training. Was it worth it? How was the learning experience? Send an e-mail detailing your experience to Raines@asmconline.org for possible publication. |
