PDG ENVIRONMENTAL ACQUIRES ASSETS OF IRC ENVIRONMENTAL

MONROEVILLE, Pa., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The management of PDG Environmental, Inc. (NASDAQ: PDGE), today announced the acquisition of certain assets and contracts of the Tallahassee, Fla., operations of IRC Environmental (IRC), a wholly owned subsidiary of International Recovery Corporation (NYSE: INT). The transaction is part of the continuing effort of International Recovery to exit the environmental service business. The Tallahassee operation of IRC provides environmental consulting and remediation services primarily relating to leaking underground storage tanks.
Commenting on the acquisition, John Regan, chairman and CEO of PDG Environmental, said, "This is an excellent strategic acquisition for PDGE. Our geographic coverage now extends to the Florida Panhandle, Georgia and Alabama and our technical capabilities will be enhanced with the addition of the IRC personnel who will be joining PDGE. In addition, PDGE has been assigned several very attractive contracts, including IRC's contract with the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation to assess and remediate petroleum contaminated sites in Florida. This contract alone has the potential to generate $12 million in revenue over the next three years."
PDG Environmental, Inc., is a full service environmental remediation contractor headquartered in Pittsburgh with primary operations in the Eastern United States and Texas. PDGE's principal areas of business include asbestos abatement, underground storage tank site remediation, thermal desorption of petroleum contaminated soil, and management and disposal of regulated chemicals and materials (Lab Packs).
