Urban warfare has demanded a rise in new technologies. One such development is the gunshot detection system, which correlates the location of the shooter via the acoustics of the shot, any muzzle flash and/or the pressure change caused by a round whizzing past. AAI has developed its Projectile Detection and Cueing (PDCue) 4-Corner acoustic gunshot detection system that provides an audio alert and graphic display of the azimuth, elevation, range and GPS location of detected shooters. The PDCue 4-Corner system uses four low-profile sensor arrays distributed at the corners of the vehicle. The low-profile design allows for a clear line-of-fire for roof-mounted weapons while providing for more robust detection in complex environments. The system has already been fielded on Strykers and Humvees in both open and urban environs with 'virtually' no false alarms.
