PC Connection Collects 2,500 Components for Donation at Company Event; Individuals 'Chucked' PCs in Exchange for Donations at 2nd Annual .competition.

PC Connection, Inc. (NASDAQ:PCCC), a leading direct marketer of information technology products and solutions, helped collect more than 2,500 computer components for re-use or recycling at the company's second annual .competition. About 1,000 individuals came to PC Connection's headquarters to participate in unique events such as the CPU Hurl, Internet Scavenger Hunt, and Keyboard Slap Shot in exchange for donations of computer components. In just two years, the .competition has helped spur donations of more than 4,000 computer components, many of which are being put to use in needy schools and non-profit organizations in New Hampshire, or recycled.

Held on October 7, the 2000 PC Connection .competition featured a day of fun-filled family activities and events that tested the technical smarts and strength of its participants. To participate, individuals brought a computer component or paid a nominal registration fee. All of the computer equipment collected at the event was given to Donation Depot. This organization, run by New Hampshire College, matches surplus equipment and inventory with non-profits such as schools, social service organizations, towns and cities, and human service agencies. In addition, Donation Depot recycles all of the equipment that cannot be repaired or re-used. As part of the overall donation of more than 2,500 components in connection with the .competition, PC Connection provided 800 used PCs and monitors.

PC Connection supplied older, unusable computer equipment for the .competition games, which enabled participants to do things to computers that they had only imagined were possible. Some games, such as "Parts is Parts" and "Upgrade This," tested the technical skills of participants. Others, including the "CPU Hurl" and "Monitor Shot Put," tested strength. The winning toss in the Monitor Shot Put, traveled 53 feet, shattering the previous year's record. The top finishers received prizes, as well as trophies made by a local artist completely out of recycled computer parts.
