For those who only know Jason Alexander as the schleppy character in TV's ``Seinfeld,'' take note. Alexander has a whole lot more talent that's evident in his song-and-dance role in ``Promises, Promises.'' But it was no surprise to the show-biz folks in attendance, including friends Tyne Daly Tyne Daly (born Ellen Tyne Daly on February 21, 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an Emmy Award and Tony Award-winning American stage and screen actress. Daly was born into a creative family; she is the daughter of actor James Daly.

More music magic was heard at the Cabrillo Music Theatre where Kevin Parcher of Camarillo was honored with the theater's Stagelighter Award for his musical contributions to the Ventura County community. Recognized for his spirit, assistance and support, Parcher has served as assistant musical director for several seasons and directed more than 50 local productions. Across town at the Playboy Mansion in Holby Hills, Playboy magazine publisher Hugh Hefner opened the gates to his famous mansion last week to welcome September Playmate Nikke Schieler into bunnyland. It was a splashy splash·y

For the most part, it was a tame evening. Even Hefner acknowledged that back in the days when he was a single man, the parties were more raucous.

But this is the play-it-safe '90s, and it was exciting just to be there and stroll the parklike grounds, look at the peacocks on the loose and nosh on lamb, sausage, shrimp, chicken and mini egg rolls.

Among the guests were Schieler's family, including her husband Ian Ziering, who stars in Aaron Spelling's popular TV series, ``Beverly Hills, 90210,'' as well as Bill Maher, Jared Leto, Grant Show, Jerry Buss and Joe E. Tata Joe E. Tata (born September 13, 1936) is an American television actor. Perhaps best known for his recurring role (1990 to 2000) as Nat, the owner and operator of the Peach Pit diner, in the TV Series Beverly Hills, 90210. .
