 PARTON ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF EAI BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Charles T. Parton was


elected chairman of the board of Electronic Associates, Inc. (NYSE: EA) at a board meeting following the annual meeting of shareholders. Parton has been a member of the EAI board since January 1991 and was acting president of the company from July to November. Richard G. Rogers, who became president in November, continues as chief executive officer.
 Parton succeeds William R. Smart as chairman. Smart and Fred L. Martinson, also a director, were ineligible for re-election to the board because they reached the company's mandatory retirement age. Smart was chairman of the board since 1984. Martinson was associated with EAI more than 40 years.
 Parton, 50 years old, is president of the Parton Corporation, a financial consulting firm based in Little Silver serving both the private and nonprofit business sectors. He also is vice president of Caulfield and McCue, an insurance firm in Little Silver.
 A resident of Rumson, Parton was senior vice president and group executive of Midlantic National Bank, Edison, until 1990. Earlier he was chairman, president and chief executive of Midlantic National Bank/Merchants of Neptune, a commercial bank subsidiary of Midlantic Banks, Inc. Parton is a director of Calton, Inc. and a trustee of Monmouth College, West Long Branch. He also is chairman of the board of trustees of the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, and a director of the medical center's parent company, Modern Health Affiliates, Inc. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Parton holds an M.B.A. degree from Rutgers University.
 Electronic Associates, Inc. is engaged in three related business lines, serving users and producers of electronic products and systems. In Contract Manufacturing, EAI provides manufacturing services for products designed and marketed by customers. In Field Service, the company offers independent maintenance of electronic equipment, with technicians across the United States and in Japan. In Product Engineeringg, EAI provides simulation computer products plus design and engineering services to private industry and government agencies.
