PARK HOSTING ARTS AND CRAFTS FAIR.Byline: Daily News SAUGUS - Unusual gifts and original pieces of art will be among the offerings today and Sunday at Santa Clarita's Spring Arts and Crafts Fair at Central Park. The fair - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days - will feature handmade items by dozens of vendors including pottery, woodwork, artworks, furniture, jewelry, baskets and clothing. There will also be a food court with a variety of foods. In the past, hundreds of people have attended these fairs, sponsored by the city of Santa Clarita. Admission is free. ``The arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. The chief influence behind this movement was William Morris. By the mid-19th cent. fairs we hold are venues where people can purchase unique, handmade items and where vendors and crafts people can show off their incredible skills,'' said Nicki Voss Stern, arts and events program coordinator for the city. ``We encourage everyone to stop by and check out all of the great vendors during this Memorial Day weekend.''
