 PARAMOUNT NETWORK TELEVISION SIGNS
RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON/MICHAEL GREENBURG'S GEKKO FILM CORP.
HOLLYWOOD, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Actor Richard Dean Anderson and Producer Michael Greenburg have formed Gekko Film Corp. and entered into an agreement for Anderson to develop, produce and star in telefilms and a new series. The partners will create and produce all program forms for the Network Television Division of Paramount Pictures, it was announced today by John S. Pike, president of the division. The agreement covers the revival of the character "MacGYVER," in a number of made-for-television movies, for which the network has not been determined. Anderson starred as "MacGYVER" for seven successful seasons on ABC. The series currently airs daily on the USA Network.
In making the announcement, Pike stated, "We are thrilled to continue our eight-year relationship with Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Greenburg. Paramount is proud to work with a star of Richard Dean's worldwide popularity. We look forward to helping in the development of his and Michael's next successful series."
Most recently, Anderson starred in a CBS telefilm "In the Eyes of a Stranger," which was produced by Greenburg. The two will serve as executive producers on all Gekko Film Corp. projects. Greenburg previously served as supervising producer on "MacGYVER."
Prior to "MacGYVER," Anderson starred in a number of prime-time and daytime series, including "Emerald Point N.A.S." and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" for CBS-TV and "General Hospital" for ABC-TV. In 1986, Anderson made his television movie debut in ABC's "Ordinary Heroes." Currently, he is in production on the CBS telefilm "Master Builder," also starring Marg Helgenberger; it is a Wilshire Court Production.
Prior to starting his acting career, Anderson studied drama at St. Cloud State College in his home state of Minnesota and at Ohio University.
Paramount Pictures is a part of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications Inc. (NYSE: PCI).
